2nd Division League side Mohammedan SC have announced the signing of midfielder Gani Ahmed Nigam. The 22-year-old featured for Indian Super League side Hyderabad FC last season.

Gani Ahmed Nigam earned recognition after his brace for the erstwhile FC Pune City U-19 side, which defeated Mohun Bagan in the IFA Shield in 2017. The Kozhikode-born player then went on to represent Gokulam Kerala in the I-League in 2018-19 and also scored a solitary goal.

When Hyderabad FC were formed in 2019, the youngster was picked up by the new ISL outfit. While it wasn't a very good campaign for the team, Nigam earned some minutes in the top flight of Indian football. He represented the Nizams on five occasions during the season and gained some valuable experience.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan are looking to gain the coveted spot in the I-League next season and have already roped in a host of domestic players in the past month. The Black Panthers recently also began field activities for the first time since March to train for the upcoming 2nd Division League tournament.

The club have already roped in notable players including Willis Plaza, Eze Kingsley, Shouvik Ghosh, Himanshu Jangra and Anwar Ali Jr. among others. On the other hand, they have also appointed new head coach Yan Law to ensure the team qualifies for the I-League 2020-21 season.

Having signed Gani Ahmed Nigam, the Black Panthers have once again showed that they are all set to pounce for the I-League spot. The young midfielder will be a welcome addition to a squad that already comprises of the likes of several domestic stars.
