The Brazilian ace scored five goals in Goa’s rout to send the Chennai crowd into raptures…

There was much disappointment after Goa’s first defeat at Premier Fulsal 2016 against Kolkata with most fans particularly upset following Ronaldinho’s lacklustre display. Khel Now predicted that the former Barcelona man would have better days and he did not waste any time making amends. The magician was in sensational form as he destroyed Paul Scholes’ Bengaluru 5s almost single-handedly. The forward was the main man as the Goans routed their opposition 7-2. Goa came into this game on the back of a defeat and a performance that did not provide much to write home about. It was understandable than that the Brazilian and his teammates meant business right from the off. It was clear that Ronaldinho was not on the pitch just to entertain, but also wanted to prove a point after his last display. Not surprisingly each goal in the former World Cup-winner’s 5-star showing was a work of art. His first came six minutes into the clash as he side-footed calmly into the net. The striker completed his brace by slotting into the net through a defender’s legs. Ronaldinho showed his trademark control as the ball almost seemed to stick to his feet and the Brazilian was not only interested in scoring, but also indulged in his fair share of showboating as all the tricks and flicks came out of the bag. His hat-trick was complete after a well-placed first time shot that nestled into the middle of the goal. A first half hat-trick out of the way you would not blame the legend for taking it easy, but he was not done yet. A fourth goal came early in the fourth quarter with a delicately chipped finish followed by that familiar Samba dance. But, a momentous day was yet to be crowned and it was with the last kick of the match as the finisher took on all comers in a counter-attack before slotting past the opposition goalkeeper. In the midst of all of Ronaldinho’s mayhem two Indians, Bengaluru’s Jonathan and Goa’s Fredsan Marshall also registered on the score sheet. But, they will go down as footnotes on an evening on which the Brazilian left Chennai with a performance to behold. That was Goa’s first win after defeat on opening day and their campaign is up and running. However, after a draw in their first outing Bengaluru are still looking for their first full set of points. Chennai and Kochi split the points after 8-goal thriller Following Ronaldoinho’s magical showing was always going to be tough but Chennai and Kochi gave it their all and shared the points after a 4-4 draw. However, tonight’s hosts who threw away a two-goal lead in the fourth quarter could well have dropped more than just points with their ace forward Falcao going off at half-time following an injury. But, The Brazilian did leave his own mark on the game through a brace. Chennai have just the point from their two games and a lot of work to do, while Kochi are sitting pretty in the group with four points.
