The star custodian spoke about the team's ambition in the continental stage.
ATK Mohun Bagan play FC Nasaf in the inter-zonal semi-final of AFC Cup 2021 on September 22 (Wednesday). The Uzbekistan-based club, who beat Ahal in the Zonal final, will be a tough opposition for the Mariners. Antonio Habas' side must be on top of their game to overcome the Dragons, who have been in sensational form. ATK Mohun Bagan custodian Amrinder Singh though is not overwhelmed.
The Mariners recently announced a 22-member squad for the inter-zone semi-final in Uzbekistan. The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who played the AFC Cup final with Bengaluru FC in 2016, spoke to the media during an interaction recently. Here are some excerpts from the interaction.

As the opponent is tougher this time, you will have to handle a huge pressure under the bar. Are you preparing differently for this match?
Amrinder Singh: No matter who the opponent is, we always train hard and give our best. In the game against Nasaf, we will do the same. Every game is equally important for me.
Do you think preparing in Dubai is going to be more effective in such a tough match?
Amrinder Singh: Yes. The facilities which we have in Dubai are really good. It's going to be a tough game in Uzbekistan but these training sessions are quite useful for us.
Is getting a chance to play in the AFC Cup motivated you to sign for ATK Mohun Bagan from Mumbai City?
Amrinder Singh: I've already played in the AFC Cup final for Bengaluru but unfortunately, we couldn't win it. This time with ATK Mohun Bagan, I am determined to go all the way and win the cup. This is one of my goals for the season.

How will you compare the players in Mumbai City’s defence during your time there to that of ATK Mohun Bagan?
Amrinder Singh: Both the clubs are top clubs in Indian Football. In Mumbai, we have players like Fall, Hernan. And now, in ATKMB, we have Tiri, McHugh and many Indian players. I feel confident with these players as they have already proved themselves in ISL. We are trying to establish good coordination among us so that we can keep more clean sheets.
What is your personal target with this Green-Maroon Jersey?
Amrinder Singh: I want to give my best in every game and keep clean sheets. If we keep clean sheets, then we won't lose games and that will help us win the ISL and AFC Cup. We have a great squad that is capable of winning the AFC Cup and I would do my best.
