Want to win titles, says Gokulam Kerala GK coach Manish Timsina
The member of the Malabarian's coaching staff elaborated on how things have been going on behind the scenes at the club.
Gokulam Kerala FC created history by winning the I-league two times consecutively. Only East Bengal in the past have achieved such a feat when they won the NFL back to back three times. Goalkeeping coach of Gokulam Kerala Manish Timsina has played an important role in the team's success in the league.
Khel Now had an opportunity to chat with the goalkeeping coach of the I-League champions.
Gokulam’s title feat back to back for 2 times
Gokulam Kerala FC won the title back to back two times. The entire Gokulam management played an important role in its success. When asked regarding it, Manish said, “It's great to be Indian football league champion twice. Thanks to our all players, our President and the coaching staff. We work hard during the pre-season. “
Gokulam Kerala FC faced a setback in their penultimate match when they were defeated by Sreenidi Deccan FC. But the entire coaching team did a great job there by motivating the entire squad to keep their morals high. Talking about this Manish commented, “ We just said believe on the teamwork, we will be champions in front of 40000 visitors of Salt Lake stadium.”
Role of Vicente Alberto Annese
Vicente Alberto Annese is the man who completely revamped the Gokulam squad and made them champions. He mingles with the players like a friend and helps them to give their best on the field. Also, his great tactical vision helped the team to achieve the desired success. Manish Timsina also reiterated the fact by saying, "He is a very good coach. We have a squad of lions and our coach is the leader of the lions."
Post Match celebrations
Gokulam Kerala FC achieved a rare feat to celebrate. When asked regarding it Manish said " We celebrated together that night. From the next day, we started preparing for AFC Cup which will be held at Kolkata."
Role of Senior players
The senior players of Gokulam Kerala FC played an important role in keeping the squad together. They guided the junior players with their experience in whatever way they can. Manish Timsina asserted, " Senior players are the pillar of our squad. They infused huge confidence inside the junior players and helped them to become better. The brave leaders of our squad make our team exceptional."
AFC Cup preparations
Gokulam Kerala will next face ATKMB in their AFC Cup opening match. Being Indian champions twice, they have a lot to show on the continental stage. Manish looked confident regarding the team's success in the AFC Cup. He said, " We have proved ourselves to the Indian football fans by becoming champions two times. Now it's time for Asia. I am confident that we will impress Asia with our playing style. We aim to top the group and to progress to the next stage."
Aim next season
Gokulam Kerala FC has already started preparation for next season. They are trying to keep their core intact. When asked regarding it Manish said, "Our aim next season is to become the champions. We will try to win many trophies next season ."
