Ratings: Manvir, Kauko star as ATK Mohun Bagan trounce Blue Star SC

The Mariners will now face Abahani Dhaka in the final round of the qualifiers.

Football is a sport that is all about calming your nerves and putting up your best fight and ATK Mohun Bagan did exactly the same on their debut at the Salt Lake Stadium. The Mariners put up a show to remember at the Mecca of Indian football in front of their home fans.

Juan Ferrando’s side ran riot against Blue Star SC and sealed the deal courtesy of a destructive performance from the attackers. The Mariners have sent a statement of intent to Abahani Dhaka, who they’ll face in the final round.

On that note, let us take a look at how the ATK Mohun Bagan players performed in their fixture against Blue Star.

Arsh Anwer Shaikh - 8.0

He came off the line and made a fabulous save to deny Blue Star an opener. Moreover, he also played the role of a proper sweeper-keeper and pulled off a few good saves. Arsh marked his debut with a clean-sheet.

Prabir Das - 7.5

Sent in good crosses from the right flank, linked up well with the forwards and even tested the keeper. He worked his socks off and displayed a great performance.

Pritam Kotal - 7.0

ATK Mohun Bagan's skipper led his side by example and was solid at the back. He made important clearances and interceptions throughout the match.

Tiri - 7.0

The Spaniard made important clearances and cleared the danger on all occasions. He also kept a check on the Blue Star attackers on most occasions.

Subhasish Bose - 7.0

Bose made bombing runs forward and was good at the back. He also sent in good crosses from the left flank and even came back to make important defensive contributions.

Joni Kauko - 8.0

The Finnish midfielder opened the scoring for his side with a perfectly-timed finish from a second ball. He further tripled his side’s lead with a successful spot-kick. He also played through passes and bossed the midfield for the Mariners.

Deepak Tangri - 7.5

Put in perfectly timed crunching tackles and even came back to help out his defenders. Pulled off a few clearances in the process. He held the midfielder together alongside Kauko and Boumous.

Hugo Boumous - 8.5

Entered the box multiple times and looked dangerous on every occasion. Boumous was good in the middle of the park throughout the game and capped off his performance with an assist late in the second half.

Manvir Singh - 9.0

He troubled the defenders with his trickery and pace on the right-hand side. He also put dangerous crosses into the box and tested the keeper as well.

Manvir scored two goals past the keeper and gave his side a much-needed win. He also provided the assist for David William’s goal.

David Williams - 8.5

Dropped deep to receive the ball and was a constant threat for Blue Star. Williams also tested the keeper a few times and finally found the back of the net deep in the second half.

Kiyan Nassiri - 8.0

He was lively on the left flank and picked up second balls multiple times in key positions. Kiyan outpaced the Blue Star players and caused them a lot of problems. He had a great game overall and will look to continue the same rhythm.

Substitutes

Sumit Rathi - 6.5

He came on in the second half to replace Subhasish Bose. Sumit filled in the role of a left-back properly and kept a check on every occasion.

Bidyananda Singh - 6.0

Bidya came in during the second half as a replacement for Prabir Das. He had the chance to score and become a super substitute, but couldn’t beat the keeper.

Ashutosh Mehta - 5.5

Mehta came on as a replacement for Joni Kauko. He made a few important tackles and interceptions in the back end of the match. However, he also gave away the ball a few times in key positions.

Ravi Rana - 5.5

Rana replaced Kiyan Nassiri in the second half. He made a few swift moves through the left side and sent in good crosses.

Gursimrat Gill - NA

He came on late in the second half.
