Gokulam Kerala announce squad for AFC Women's Club Championship 2022

The Malabarians qualified for this tournament by virtue of winning the IWL 2021-22.
Gokulam Kerala FC have named a 23-member squad, including eight Kerala players, for its AFC Women’s Club Championship 2022 campaign which is to be held in Uzbekistan from August 23 to August 26. The team will play its matches at the Qarshi Markaziy Stadium from August 23 onwards.
Gokulam Kerala are set to face Uzbekistan club Sogdiana–W in its first match and then play Iranian club Bam Khatoon FC on 26th August.
The team is led by Indian captain Ashalata Devi. There are seven Indian team players and four foreigners in the team. The foreigners are Sabitra Bhandari (Nepal), Vivian Adjei Konadu (Ghana), Beatrice Ntiwaa Nketia (Ghana), Bertha Omita Adhiambo (Kenya). This year there are eight Kerala players and one player from the GKFC’s academy in Kannur, Shilji Shaji, has also been selected to the squad.

“We are committed to encouraging more Kerala players and this would be great exposure for them. Our aim is to win the AFC Club Championship this time. Last time, we were not able to win it. This year, we have a strong squad and we hope we can win it,” said VC Praveen, the Gokulam Kerala FC club president.
The team will be travelling to Uzbekistan on Monday evening.
Last year Gokulam Kerala had finished third in the inaugural AFC Women's Club Championship. They lose two and won one, with the victory coming against Bunyodkor in their final match.
