Aizawl look to get back to winning ways against bouyant Shivajians
The hosts are coming off a defeat against Chennai City in the last outing...
One of the surprise packages of the I-league, Aizawl FC will take on DSK Shivajians FC on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl. Pulled back after a defeat against Chennai City last week, Aizawl will look for a win to continue their dream run so far in the league.
Shivajians have travelled to the northeast after a week, a gap much needed for recuperation from injuries for the Pune based side, after their last home game against Mohun Bagan in which they settleded for a draw, their second in the current season.
The hosts are in 3rd position with 10 points from five games while on the other hand, DSK Shivajians are in 7th position, with 5 points in their kitty.
Team News
The hosts have always rotated their squad around a core group of players and with everyone fit, manager Khalid Jamil will have plenty of options to pick from.
Subrata Paul is yet to freture for Shivajians and he continues to remain a doubt ahead of this one. The trest of the squad are fit to play.
Head to Head
Both these teams will be facing each other for the third time in the I-league and the odds are in favour of Aizawl. During the last two encounters, Aizawl had the last laugh with the home match ending 2-0, while the away match ended 1-0. That means Shivajians are yet to open their account against Aizawl and will be itching to get their act right.
Man to Watch
Jayesh Rane-Aizawl FC: Aizawl have had three different goalscorers in Jayesh Rane, Lalruatthara and Mahmoud Amnah this season. However, with the hosts giving solid performances as a team, the Mumbai-born lad will definitely try to capitalize on it and want more goals to add to his tally.
Lallianzuala Chhangte-DSK Shivajians: One of the biggest talents in Indian football, the wide midfielder became an overnight sensation after scoring a brace on debut for the national team at the age of 17. The 19-year old has been a consistent performer for his side during this season's I-League.
