Al Hilal will begin their new SPL season tonight.
The Saudi Arabian Professional League is ready to resume after an almost three-month hiatus. One of the most intriguing first-round matchups will be between Al Hilal and recently promoted Al-Faisaly.
During the pre-season, Blue Waves participated in four friendlies and secured two wins, a draw and a defeat, while Al Faisaly only took part in one friendly, defeating Beletinci 3:1.
The last time these teams played was in 2022, when Al Hilal won 2:1. Overall, Al Hilal had a significantly better record in prior head-to-head encounters, winning six and drawing four.
Despite being undefeated last season, Al Hilal failed to capture their 22nd league title, as they finished second in the table.
Al-Faisaly were relegated from the Saudi Professional League in the 2021/22 season and had an intriguing journey in the First Division. Last year, they had a dismal start but then went on an unbelievable eight-game winning streak to gain promotion, narrowly missing the playoffs by one point.
