Al-Nassr will open their Saudi Pro League title defence with a Matchday 1 fixture against Al Fateh at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The hosts ended their seven-year league title wait last season and will look to make a winning start to the 2026-27 season.
Ange Postecoglou opted not to name Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup. Although the Portuguese superstar returned to training following the FIFA World Cup 2026, his recent marriage to Georgina Rodriguez has led him to delay the start of his league campaign with the defending champions.
Despite the absence of their talismanic forward, the hosts boast a much stronger squad on paper, and will likely dominate tonight’s match against Al Fateh, who could only manage an 11th-place finish last season.
Khalid al-Atawi, the new head coach of the visitors, will face a tough test against the home side. Even though Al-Nassr are missing two players – Sultan Al-Ghannam and Sami Al-Najei – through cruciate ligament injuries, they will be very much the favoured team to come away with a positive result.
