Malaga will be looking for a first win of the 2026-27 LaLiga season when they go to the Mendizorrotza Stadium to take on Alaves this evening.
The visitors presently lie at the bottom of the LaLiga standings, picking up four points from nine matches, with Alaves sitting seventh in the division, notching 11 points from nine games.
Alaves have won three, drawn two and lost four of their nine league games so far in the 2026-27 season. That gives them 11 points and a seventh place in the table, which is a good return for the club early in the campaign.
However, Quique Sanchez Flores’ team have struggled recently, taking only one point from their past five matches, losing their last two games against Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo.
The two sides met in the 2022-23 Segunda Division campaign and Malaga won 1-0 at home while Alaves won 2-1 at home.
Malaga are the only side in Spain’s top flight that have not yet won this term, with the Andalusians having recorded no victories, four draws and five defeats from their opening nine games of the 2026-27 campaign, which has placed them bottom of the table.
Juan Francisco Funes’ team will head into this encounter on the heels of a 5-2 home defeat to Real Sociedad which made it three losses from their past four league games.
The White and Sky Blues further maintain the second-worst defensive performance in LaLiga this season after conceding 18 goals, while they have only scored six goals themselves.
