Who is Alexis Mac Allister? Argentina goalscorer vs Switzerland in FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals

Alexis Mac Allister has scored two goals in the FIFA World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will remain memorable to football fans for a long time for both famous and infamous reasons. Nevertheless, the tournament that started with 48 teams last month has only a handful of nations remaining as it enters its final stretch.

Defending champions Argentina are still in the race as they prepare to face England in the semifinals. With one win, they reach the summit clash for the third time in the last four campaigns. La Albiceleste are undoubtedly one of the strongest teams in the summer competitions; however, it seems like exhaustion is slowly catching up to Lionel Scaloni’s men.

Argentina’s midfield has worked overtime to help create changes as well as defend. With their 3-1 win over Switzerland, they made a statement that they do not need Lionel Messi to score goals, although the former Barcelona attacker has scored or assisted 10 out of the side’s 17 goals.

And the player who broke the deadlock in the critical clash was Liverpool midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister. The 24-year-old has been the engine in La Albiceleste’s midfield, having two contributions in the ongoing campaign.
