The FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals are finally underway, with the eight remaining teams facing off until July 11 to book their places in the last four. France became the first semi-finalist of the expanded 48-team edition in North America with a 2-0 win over Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 10.
Some of the biggest names in world football – including Spain and Argentina – remain in contention for a semi-final berth. La Roja will face Belgium, while La Albiceleste will take on Switzerland. England are also alive in the tournament, scheduled to face Norway in the quarter-finals.

1. France

Les Bleus booked their place in the semi-finals with a routine 2-0 win over Morocco. Despite missing a first-half penalty, Kylian Mbappe broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a brilliant curling effort. He then set up Ousmane Dembele six minutes later, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner. The 2018 World Cup winners will face either Spain or Belgium in the last four.
