The two nations will clash against each other on July 19.

Argentina booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final after defeating England 2-1 in the semi-finals. Lionel Scaloni’s side will now face Spain in the showpiece event at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday night.

The reigning world champions have remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and have largely retained a settled starting XI during the knockout rounds. Scaloni has relied on a balanced mix of experienced players and emerging talent as La Albiceleste continue their title defence.

Argentina are expected to stick with their preferred 4-4-2 formation against Spain, with Julián Álvarez leading the attack alongside Enzo Fernandez and Lionel Messi.

Nahuel Molina is expected to start at right-back, while Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martínez should continue as the centre-back pairing. Nicolás Tagliafico is likely to retain his place at left-back after featuring regularly throughout the tournament.

Leandro Paredes is expected to provide energy and defensive support in midfield, with Alexis Mac Allister operating in an advanced playmaking role. Alexis Mac Allister should start on the wide areas, offering creativity and attacking support. Guiliano Simeone will start on the right flank.

Captain Lionel Messi is expected to start on the right side of the front two, having scored eight goals and provided four assists. Julián Álvarez should partner him after playing a crucial role in his nation’s run to the semi-finals.
