Argentina vs Switzerland: Full list of substitutes for FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final

Argentina and Switzerland have faced each other twice in the FIFA World Cup before.

The stage is set for defending champions Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal clash against Switzerland at the Kansas City Stadium in Missouri.

Lionel Scaloni’s men started their World Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over Algeria, courtesy of a hat-trick by Lionel Messi. The Argentine playmaker later scored a brace against Austria before netting a free-kick in the side’s last group stage game against Jordan.

After enjoying the group stage, they had a tough contest against World Cup debutants Cape Verde. The Blue Sharks forced the game into extra time, eventually losing 3-2 because of an own goal by Diney Borges. Meanwhile, the defending champion later scored three goals within 15 minutes to secure a comeback victory over Egypt in the pre-quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Switzerland topped Group B with wins over co-hosts Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina. They defeated Algeria in the round of 32 before eliminating dark-horse Colombia in a historic penalty shootout in the round of 16. Gregor Kobel has been Nati’s top star in the last three games.

However, the Swiss side faces its biggest challenge in the quarterfinals, as they take on the defending champions.
