The Gunners face Lampard’s side in the opening league clash.
Arsenal’s Premier League championship defence will begin tonight, when they host newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s team are the defending champions and favourites to win the division again this season, while any result higher than 18th in the standings will be considered a decent season for Coventry.
Arsenal demonstrated their class in the Community Shield against Manchester City last weekend, winning 3-0 over Enzo Maresca’s side.
However, this is where the actual business starts, and the North London company would be disappointed if they didn’t have a comfortable opening-night success.
Bruno Guimaraes, Piero Hincapie, Christos Tzolis, and Illan Meslier are Arsenal’s four summer acquisitions; a fifth has also been confirmed, as the Gunners have signed England international Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa.
Coventry, on the other hand, finished 11 points ahead of second-place Ipswich Town at the end of an outstanding season, winning the Championship with 95 points.
It has been an amazing few years for the Sky Blues, who are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2000–01. As recently as 2017–18, they were a League Two team.
Eight new players have joined Frank Lampard’s team during the summer transfer window, with Caleb Yirenkyi being the most expensive, at least in terms of transfer fees.
