The Arsenal vs Manchester City match will decide the first trophy of the English football season.

Arsenal will face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Both sides, who were the best two teams in the Premier League last season, will have a chance to grab the first silverware of the English football season at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

Mikel Arteta ended Arsenal’s 22-year wait for a Premier League title, clinching the league last season with 85 points. The Gunners also finished as runners-up in the UEFA Champions League, marking one of the most successful seasons in the North London club’s history.

The Gunners will have the chance to add another trophy to their cabinet. Arteta has won the Community Shield an impressive four times – twice as a player and twice as a manager. Interestingly, two of those wins have come against City.

Tonight’s Manchester City team is one in transition. Long-time head coach Pep Guardiola has departed, and Enzo Maresca has overseen a summer of change. The Cityzens clinched three Community Shields under Guardiola.

It remains to be seen if Maresca is up to the task against Arteta, who is currently the longest-serving head coach in the Premier League.
