Atletico de Madrid will go head-to-head against Manchester United for their second league phase game of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 campaign. The Riyadh Air Metropolitano is all set to witness this entertaining clash.

The Diego Simeone-led side were outplayed by Liverpool in their opening UCL game of the season. They then went on a winning spree in LaLiga with four consecutive wins. One of them came against Real Madrid.

Atlético Madrid will now be looking to secure their first win in the European competition this season. They are going to be the home team, and it is going to keep them fully confident. Los Colchoneros will be looking to control the game from the start and not allow the Premier League side to take many chances on goal.

The Red Devils are back in the UEFA Champions League. They secured a dominant 4-0 win against Sabah FK in their opening game. Michael Carrick’s men have failed to secure a victory in their last four games of the domestic competition.

They were held to a draw by the 10-man Tottenham Hotspur in their recent league outing. Manchester United will be eager to get back to winning ways, and what better occasion than the European night. Being away from home is going to put them under pressure from the start.

They will need a better approach in the final third to prevail against Atleti.

Players to Watch

Alejandro Grimaldo (Atletico Madrid)

Alejandro Grimaldo has been one of the most consistent performers for Atletico Madrid this season. He has scored in both of the last two games for the LaLiga club and will be looking to help his side once again. The 31-year-old’s work rate on the left flank will be important yet again.

Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United)

The 27-year-old was the sole goalscorer for Manchester United in their 1-1 draw against Spurs. He will be once again looking to step up his game and help the Red Devils secure their second consecutive win in the UEFA Champions League 2026-27. Bryan Mbeumo can play on the wing and is also capable of playing as a striker.
