The final is set for 19th July.

Spain centre-back Aymeric Laporte has voiced his concern about Argentina’s style of play and feels that the South American giants have not been true to their game, making reckless challenges.

This comes after Argentina faced England in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2026, during which they committed 26 fouls against the Three Lions.

Argentina’s persistent efforts to enrage Thomas Tuchel’s players dominated England’s World Cup semi-final loss.

Argentina used a variety of dirty tactics to live up to their reputation as masters of the dark arts, including late tackles, off-the-ball challenges, and attempts to have Harry Kane sent off.

This has surely been noticed by Spain’s defender Aymeric Laporte, who has warned the defending champions to avoid making such dirty tackles during the game.

“In the last few matches we’ve seen things that have really surprised us, incidents that have been ignored. Especially with Argentina, who are a team that leave a lot of little messages with their challenges.“

“That shouldn’t be allowed in competitions like this, because it can throw you off your game and make you lose your temper. It’s part of the referee’s job to keep these situations under control so that he doesn’t get walked all over.“

“From the start of the tournament, we’ve been a pretty fair team in that respect. We’re not the kind of team that goes around kicking opponents or committing reckless fouls.“

“And I think that’s how we need to approach this match as well. But it’s true that a lot will depend on the refereeing.”

There has been a lot of buzz on social media alleging that Argentina players have escaped red cards with their rash tackles in the games. England match further highlighted how the first half of the game mainly had repeated fouls, which were mainly committed by Argentina’s players.
