Barcelona to 'do everything possible' to sign Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez – Report
A new striker has been a priority for the Blaugrana.
Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has emerged as a key transfer target for Barcelona, according to media reports from Spain. The Blaugrana, who have been looking to sign a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski, have been trying to sign Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. But Martinez has emerged as the primary alternative for Hansi Flick’s side.
Spanish reporter Gerard Moreno claimed that Barcelona have made Lautaro Martinez their primary target in the summer window. Flick is also keen on landing the Argentine player.
“It will be a very difficult deal to pull off, but Lautaro is Barça’s number-one priority, and the club will do everything possible in the final days of the transfer window,” Romero said, as quoted by 433.
“Lautaro has opened the door to a move to Barcelona.”

Earlier, Italian journalist Matteo Moretto claimed that the Catalan club enquired with Inter Milan about Lautaro Martinez’s availability, although it did not lead to any concrete offers. Now, Romero’s revelation has put the spotlight on this deal. It would be a big addition to the Barcelona frontline.
Lewandowski departed on a free transfer at the end of last season. His backup, Ferran Torres, also left for Paris Saint-Germain in a permanent deal. So far, Barcelona have signed Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon to shore up their attack.
Any purported deal, however, would be an expensive one. Martinez has a contract with Inter until 2029. The Italian club are under no pressure to sell their most prized asset and club captain.
Martinez also scored 22 goals across all competitions last season, meaning that the Nerazzurri would find it hard to get a suitable replacement if they sell Martinez.
Transfermarkt values Martinez at €85 million. So Inter would ask upward of that sum to begin negotiations with the Catalans. Martinez will turn 29 this month, making this a significant investment in a player approaching his thirties.
On the other hand, Lautaro Martinez would be the most capable alternative to Julian Alvarez. The Argentine has been the main target for Barcelona since before the FIFA World Cup 2026. But Atletico Madrid have so far refused to enter into negotiations with their league rivals.
Martinez, who has scored 132 goals in Serie A, would be one of the biggest transfers in Barcelona’s recent history. He would be a welcome addition alongside their recent signing of Rodri from Manchester City.

How much would Lautaro Martinez cost Barcelona?
