Gerd Müller was the first Bayern player to receive the honour in 1970. After him, only two more players from Bayern claimed the award. Franz Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge went on to clinch the Golden Ball twice each. Together, the three German legends have won the award five times while representing the Bavarian club, establishing an important chapter in its history.
This year, Harry Kane could become the fourth Bayern player to win the prestigious individual award. He scored 73 goals for club and country during the 2025-26 season. He recently broke a long-standing record in the Bundesliga, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the German top flight. Kane needed 98 goals to reach this milestone.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is currently battling Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal for the prize.
