The two giants will face each other in Kenya.
The Kenyan capital city of Nairobi will be the host of two giants of modern football – Bayern Munich and Ajax Amsterdam – who are set to play a historic friendly at the newly constructed Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City.
The exciting clash will take place on January 5, 2027, and will mark the official inauguration of the 60,000-seater venue, which will be Kenya’s new national stadium. It will be part of an international football festival ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The news of the historic friendly was announced by Kenyan President William Ruto.
“Come fifth January 2027, we will open this stadium with a historic match between two giants of European football, FC Bayern Munich of Germany and AFC Ajax of Amsterdam,” he said.
“Two years ago, I promised the people of Kenya a world-class stadium where the greatest teams in the world would come to play. Today, we are keeping that promise.”
