Carrying the torch from the historic 1972 Olympiastadion into modern European dominance, Munich’s Allianz Arena gears up to host Matchweek 3 of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27, where Bayern Munich and Arsenal meet in what promises to be a thrilling clash.
The Bavarians are unbeaten in their last five games and come off a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig in their last match. Luis Diaz’s hat-trick and goals from Pavlovic, Olise and Kane saw Kompany’s side leapfrog Dortmund to occupy the top spot in the German top tier.
Talking about their UCL form, they are currently placed eighth, and a win in the next game is crucial to keep their hopes of a top-eight finish alive. After a winning start against Bodo Glimt, Bayern Munich had to settle for a high-scoring 3-3 draw against Viking in the last game.
Moving to the reigning champions of India, we find out that the North London outfit won both their games so far in the UCL against Napoli and Lille. They faced relatively tougher opponents than their immediate opponents, and Arteta’s side would be keen to make it three wins out of three in Germany.
With six wins in seven games, the Gunners are placed second in the Premier League and are coming off a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the last game. They won four of their last five games, and their sole defeat came against Brighton, when they lost 3-0 away.
Players to Watch
Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)
Harry Kane has taken his game to the next level since moving to Bayern Munich. The English international striker has scored an astonishing 155 goals in 157 matches for the German giants, including nine goals in 10 matches this season. This includes three goals in just two matches in the Champions League.
Other than being a potent goalscorer, Kane is also important for his side in creating chances. Kane has registered six assists across 10 matches all seasons, making him an all-round threat up front for the Gunners in their upcoming clash.
Noni Madueke (Arsenal)
The English winger honed his skills early on in Eindhoven before donning the jerseys of Chelsea and Arsenal. He found his name in the score sheet in the last game against Nottingham Forest and will be keen to extend his goal-scoring stint in Germany.
Madueke will likely be up against Konrad Laimer on the wings, and it will be a key player battle to watch out for. Operating off the right wing, the former Chelsea man excels at slowing isolated full-backs before exploding past them.
