Brazil will play three friendlies in the September-October FIFA international window.
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has named his 26-member squad for the September-October FIFA international window, when the Seleção will play friendlies against Australia and India.
Brazil’s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign before these matches was rather disappointing, as the Seleção once again failed to reach the final stages of the competition.
The Seleção entered the tournament as one of the favourites with immense expectations behind them. However, Brazil struggled to find consistency and were eventually eliminated by Erling Haaland’s Norway in the Round of 16 with a scoreline of 2-1. Even in the group stage, despite finishing as the table toppers, the Selecao did not look convincing.
The early exit was unexpected and extended their wait for the sixth FIFA World Cup trophy, as they last won it in 2002.
This campaign also marked the end of multiple Brazilian players’ international careers, as the Brazil head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, confirmed that Neymar, Casemiro and Danilo will not feature for the Selecao again.
Carlo Ancelotti said, “I think this World Cup marks the end of a generation of very important players. Starting with Neymar, going through Danilo, Casemiro, all those players who were over 30 years old at the World Cup.“
“We are going to map out new players who can enter, I’m not saying for the next World Cup in 2030, but who can already be competitive in the first objective, which is the Copa America in 2028.”
“I’m not going to say I’m going to replace all 26 players. We’re going to keep some important players who can continue the work, like Marquinhos, to name one.”
“I think it’s important that you stay to give a sign of continuity to the work. But the idea is to change, to bring in a new generation.”
Now, the Seleção will first travel to Australia to play the Socceroos in two friendly matches on September 25 and September 29. Following these friendlies, Brazil will fly to India to take on the Blue Tigers on October 3rd at the VYBK Stadium in Kolkata, marking a historic date in Indian football.
The squad features multiple known and new names from European and South American leagues. The list includes known superstars like Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, Bruno Guimarães etc.
