Brazil and Norway have faced each other in the FIFA World Cup before.
Norway are all set to take on five-time champions Brazil in an action-packed game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The round of 16 will be played at the New York-New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday, July 5.
The two sides have displayed their attacking prowess in recent rounds and are set for a clash of titans this time. Erling Haaland has bagged five goals for the Norwegian side, while Vinicius Jr has scored four goals for the Selecao.
Matheus Cunha has also scored three goals, while Casemiro’s goal came in the clutch during the side’s round of 32 win over Japan. Against Samurai Blue, Gabriel Martinelli scored a late goal (90+6) to help them secure a berth in the last 16.
Meanwhile, Norway stunned the Ivory Coast 2-1 in the last round. The Vikings were drawn in group G alongside France, Senegal, and Iraq. They won against Senegal and Iraq; however, they lost against France 4-1. Nevertheless, against Les Bleus, Norway also fielded a heavily rotated squad.
The two sides have faced each other in the FIFA World Cup before. In 1998, the Vikings secured a 2-1 victory over the five-time champions. Nevertheless, both sides are keen to reach the quarter-finals of the summer competition and will try their best.
Brazil are keen to win their first FIFA World Cup title since 2002, while Norway are aiming to reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
