The Brazil vs Norway match will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, tonight.

Brazil take on Norway in an exciting Round of 16 clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 on July 5. The five-time champions face the Scandinavian giants in what promises to be a feisty match that will decide the third quarter-finalist of the expanded 48-team edition in North America.

The Selecao have been solid but inconsistent in this tournament. They started their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Morocco, where Vinicius Jr’s goal cancelled out Ismael Saibari’s opener.

Vinicius scored again in the next match against Haiti, and Matheus Cunha netted a brace to seal a 3-0 win for the South American side. The Real Madrid forward scored two goals against Scotland, while Cunha added a third to seal a 3-0 win.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men looked unconvincing against Japan, conceding before the half-hour mark through Kaishu Sano. Casemiro equalised for the Selecao, and Gabriel Martinelli netted the winner in the 96th minute.

The Vikings, on the other hand, began their group stage well. They sealed a 4-1 win over Iraq, with Erling Haaland netting twice. The Manchester City striker scored twice again in the next match against Senegal as the European side won 3-2.

Despite a 4-1 loss to France on the final matchday, Stale Solbakken’s side bounced back with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in the Round of 32, with Haaland once again netting a late winner.

Weather Report

Brazil vs Norway Preview - prediction, team news, lineups | FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16

There have been widespread reports of thunderstorms and adverse weather affecting the Brazil vs Norway match. This led FIFA to briefly consider rescheduling both the Brazil vs Norway match and the Mexico vs England fixture, although the global football governing body ultimately decided against this.

According to media reports, a flood watch has been issued from 12:00 PM ET on Sunday through Tuesday. There is a 30% chance of rain at 4:00 PM local time, which is the scheduled kick-off time for the match. The temperature will be around 29°C.

At 6:00 PM local time, the threat of a thunderstorm will rise to 60%, with heavy winds blowing from the southeast. There is a good chance that the match will see lightning delays, as FIFA protocol dictates that play be suspended if lightning is detected within an eight-mile radius of the stadium.

The match will be hosted at MetLife Stadium, which features a newly installed natural grass surface. The surface features several layers underneath, as well as an irrigation and vacuum ventilation system to protect it against the winter conditions.

However, the surface has been heavily criticised by both players and fans for being extremely slow and heavy. Brazil’s Vinicius Jr and France’s Adrien Rabiot said that the pitch was dry and difficult to play on. Even France’s head coach, Didier Deschamps, criticised it.

Fans in the stands pointed to visible seams and loose patches on the pitch, which has led to concerns about the quality of the grass. However, FIFA has so far decided to defend the stadium’s pitch quality.
