His last managerial spell was at Leicester City
Brendan Rodgers replaces Ante Postecoglou as the head coach of Celtic after agreeing on a three-year deal.
After being fired by Leicester City less than two months ago, Rodgers has now completed his return to Celtic Park. Prior to joining the Foxes, the 50-year-old won seven trophies during his previous stint at Celtic.
The Scottish champions will be hoping that Rodgers can continue his success despite experiencing consecutive domestic setbacks prior to his exit in 2019.
Along with first-team coaches Stevie Woods, Gavin Strachan, and Harry Kewell staying at the club and serving as Rodgers' temporary manager, the club additionally confirmed John Kennedy's employment.
"Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that Brendan Rodgers has been appointed the club’s new Football Manager on a three-year contract," read a club statement.
"Brendan previously managed the club to phenomenal success, winning consecutive domestic Trebles and in addition delivering the most famous of Invincible seasons."
Meanwhile, Brendan Rogers said after becoming Celtic's manager:
"I am really delighted to return to Celtic and I am hugely excited by this great opportunity. When I was given the privilege of being asked to join the club again, it was a very simple decision for me and my family," he said.
"We have enjoyed some great times at Celtic before and this will be my goal again, to deliver good football, ensure we have a team we all love to watch and ultimately bring more success to our fans."
And now the former Liverpool manager takes over a Celtic team that, while possibly not relying on Postecoglou, were undoubtedly inspired by his understanding of and relationships in the Japanese leagues. Rodgers faces a team that were supposed to be his, but it won't feel that way at all.
The success of the squad's upcoming season will largely depend on how soon he helps the team transcend Postecoglou's tenure and how immediately the supporters forgive Rodgers for his initial mistake.
