The Seagulls will face the Blues in their second league clash.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler believes the team will have to be patient with Jack Hinshelwood after the midfielder sustained an injury in training.

Hinshelwood did not play in Brighton’s Thursday 4-0 Conference League victory over Tromso due to a “minor” injury sustained the day before.

Reports claimed the 21-year-old may be sidelined for up to six weeks. However, Hurzeler offered a more optimistic update ahead of the weekend clash against Chelsea.

The Brighton boss said that either Hinshelwood or Georginio Rutter, who missed the Tromso triumph, may be included.

“With both, we have to be patient,” Hurzeler told reporters. “I didn’t see them yet today but there might be a chance for one of them to be in the squad.”

“I think with Jack we have to be more patient. Let’s see how the next weeks are going. He had a small issue in a training session, nothing big, but for the weekend it might be too close,” he said.

Hurzeler downplayed the seriousness of Hinshelwood’s condition. However, he said the timing may keep him out this weekend.

“With Gini I see a higher chance that he might be part of the squad,” Hurzeler said.

“It’s always a massive loss to lose important players but I will never complain about this,” he added.

“We will find solutions for that. We will have good replacements.”

“A team should never rely on one player. A team should be capable of replacing players.”
