The midfielder has been playing through an injury.
Jorge Jesus, the manager of Portugal, has acknowledged that Bruno Fernandes’ hip issue is “worrying”. It has hampered him for around three games.
Bruno Fernandes’ availability for Manchester United’s hectic October schedule is a concern. He hasn’t trained at all for today’s Nations League match against Norway. Portugal’s medical team is scheduled to determine if he will play or not.

Determining the severity of the hip problem, however, is the first priority right now. It’s unclear whether this is just a matter of controlling his workload or an issue that might hamper his return to club duties. No precise recuperation time was provided.
Jorge Jesus said: “Nuno Mendes is not a major problem because he came off with fatigue and not an injury. If I want to, I can use him in the game, provided he gives me good feedback in training.”
“The more worrying one is Bruno Fernandes because he played with a problem in his hip, but he really wanted to play. As you saw, he was not even at his usual level.”
“We will see whether he is ready for the game and what the doctors say. He will not even train. He has been playing with that pain for around three matches.”
“I have already spoken to him and I would prefer not to risk him, so that I can have him at 100 per cent for the game against Denmark.”
The remarks verify that when Fernandes entered the game as a replacement in the second half against Fulham and Brighton, he was dealing with the same problem for United.
Jesus’ account of Fernandes’ determination to play in spite of the problem highlights the midfield player’s readiness to be available. It also begs the question of whether ongoing participation has kept the hip issue from getting any better.
