The American youngster is being regarded as the next upcoming star from Borussia Dortmund's ranks.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has hailed his teammate Giovanni Reyna as the 'American Dream' after finding a stark chemistry with the teenager after arriving at the club in January.

He spoke about just how talented the USA star is and also suggested that the club are lucky to have a gem like him at their club.

Speaking to ESPN, Erling Haaland said, “He's 17-and-a-half soon, so at such a young age to be so calm on the ball and play for such a big team, it's very fascinating to see how calm he is and he doesn't care about anything, he just jumps right into it."

“He's a top talent, and we're lucky to have him here. The American Dream, I call him that.”

Giovanni Reyna is regarded as the up and coming star for Dortmund and amazing performances in the youth teams has forced Lucien Favre to make him a part of the senior team this year.

The 17-year-old has had an excellent campaign in the youth scene for the German side, scoring four goals and assisting once in as many UEFA Youth League games. He’s also managed to score four and assist seven in the U-19 Bundesliga, maintaining an amazing record which was the result for his promotion into the senior fold.

Giovanni Reyna has made a number of appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga as well as the UEFA Champions League, albeit most of them coming as substitute appearances. However, he scored his first ever goal for the club in the DFB Pokal Round of 16 loss to Werder Bremen in February.

Originally born in England, Giovanni Reyna had decided to appear for his birth nationality, which is the USA. He has also excelled for his country in the youth sector, having scored eight goals in 18 appearances for their U-17 side. The 17-year-old is perhaps being molded as the long-term successor to Marco Reus in the side, but his versatility in playing in the attacking fold means he could even get more opportunities by next season if Jadon Sancho leaves the club in the summer.
