The Derby between Dortmund and Schalke is widely recognized as “the mother of all derbies” because both cities are located nearby and are centers of coal and steel production in Germany, and what adds more ferocity to their rivalry is the fans who divide them during derby matches.

There have always been great matches between Germany’s two giants. The Derby grew popular in 1925 when Schalke defeated Dortmund 4-2 in the 1924-25 season, giving the Derby more prominence and renaming it the Revierderby.
