Needs to be focused, has incredible potential- Pep Guardiola on Mendy
The former Monaco man is expected to be involved in the second leg of Carabao Cup semi-final.
Manchester City's boss Pep Guardiola has urged Benjamin Mendy to concentrate on his game as he is in contention to make a comeback against Burton Albion. The Frenchman has been on the doctor's table since the 3-1 Manchester derby. He had a problem on his left knee after having missed the previous season because of cruciate ligament damage to his right knee.
Mendy is expected to be involved in the second leg of Carabao Cup semi-final against Burton Albion and have a comfortable lead of nine goals to nil. Although Guardiola is confident of a good for the left-back.
"To have injuries can happen, but the way he trains, the way he is in the locker room, you cannot imagine how the people love him and like to be with him, in the team spirit and everything. I'm delighted," Guardiola said.
Ever since his arrival, he has been the funny bones of the squad and loves to goof around on social media.
"We can use him more, that's what I want. He just needs to be focused, be focused in your job, in what you have to do, because you have incredible potential, you are young, you can be one of the best left backs but it depends on you. The other side, we cannot help you," the gaffer said.
There were reports of Guardiola being angry on Mendy because the French international was late for a rehabilitation session in London. Reportedly, he was late because of Anthony Joshua's fight.

Guardiola dropped hints of stepping down in the market to find a competition for Mendy, though Fabian Delph and Aleks Zinchenko do a decent job in that position but they thrive for a potent defender.
"I'm not unhappy about Mendy, I'm not here to change his mentality," Guardiola said.

When we talk about the training sessions, being focused, always he's perfect. But he's active in the social media, he likes to be... it's what it is. We tried to convince him but I'm not his father," he said.
Manchester City are sitting at the second position in the Premier League with four points behind Liverpool.
