The 26-year-old has won the I-League title with Gokulam Kerala previously.

Former Gokulam Kerala and Kerala United FC midfielder Salman Kalliyath has joined the newly formed club Diamond Harbour FC, Khel Now can confirm. The 26-year-old was part of the Malabarians' I-League winning team of the 2020-21 season.

Salman Kalliyath has joined Diamond Harbour FC for the upcoming Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2022, sources close to the developments inform Khel Now. We also understand that Kerala United's failure to secure qualification for the I-League qualifiers led to the midfielder elsewhere.

Born in Kerala's Malappuram, Salman came into prominence with his performance in the Subroto Cup for MSP school. From there, he was selected for the district team and eventually was picked for the state Santosh Trophy team.

However, he failed to nail a spot in the playing XI for the state team. Things seemed to be going downhill for Salman until coach Bino George signed him for Kolkata-based club United Sports where he coached.

Salman moved with Bino to his next club Gokulam Kerala FC and became part of the first team. Although George left his coaching role and became the technical director at GKFC, Salman continued playing for the Malabarians and won the I-League title with them in the 2020-21 season.

Later, he once again joined George at Kerala United. In his debut season at the club, Kerala United made it to the I-League qualifiers but failed to advance to the second division after finishing third in the qualifiers. This season they won't be playing the qualifiers after missing out on the semi-finals.

Salman Kalliyath was also part of the Kerala state team that won the 75th Santosh Trophy title under Bino George. They beat West Bengal in the final to clinch their seventh trophy.
