About the Player
Kousik Sarkar was previously part of the East Bengal side for quite a long time. Though, due to the presence of better players in the squad, he never got a chance to portray his skills. On 29th August, 2018, he captained the Red & Gold side against George Telegraph. In the dying moments of the match, he went on to score the winning goal and also bagged the Man of the Match award.
The 28-year-old who enjoyed a youth career at Sports Authority of India (SAI) has also played for Kalighat Milan Sangha, Mohun Bagan and Peerless SC. In January, 2017, he was sent on loan from East Bengal to play for Kenkre FC. Notably, Sarkar has also donned the national colours on two occasions.
Kibu Vicuna joins Diamond Harbour FC
In another news from the Calcutta Football League, newly established side Diamond Harbour FC has recently roped in Kibu Vicuna as their new head coach. On 1st June, the tactician landed in Kolkata. Kibu Vicuna won the I-League 2019/20 with Mohun Bagan. He also took the club to the Durand Cup finale where the Mariners admitted defeat to Gokulam Kerala. The year 2020 saw Vicuna join Kerala Blasters as their head coach. He didn’t enjoy a soothing stint and was sacked during the latter stage of the competition in February, 2021.
Diamond Harbour FC will be playing in the 1st Division of the Calcutta Football League. Under the tutelage of Vicuna, the club will be hoping for a promotion to the Premier Division next season. Apparently, they also have aspirations to participate in the Indian Super League in future.
