Update on Calcutta Football League
Although it was previously reported that the Calcutta Football League would commence from June itself, the final fixtures haven’t been decided as yet. The election of the Indian Football Association (IFA) is set to take place on June 20. The fixtures will be declared once the new body is in place. Sources close to Khel Now expect the league to commence from the second or third week of July.
Apart from the big three of Kolkata maidan, Bhawanipore FC and Southern Samity are really building a good team. Bhawanipore recently added former Churchill Brothers and East Bengal forward Willis Plaza to their ammunition. A few days back, they also signed former East Bengal defender Kousik Sarkar.
Bhawanipore FC have appointed Ranjan Chowdhury as their new head coach. Apart from the five names mentioned earlier, Southern Samity have also recently signed Banpynkhrawnam Nongkhlaw from Kenkre FC.
