Alonso reveals Pedro’s injury status.
Xabi Alonso has opted to keep Brentford guessing by refusing to say whether Chelsea forward Joao Pedro will be fit for Friday’s trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.
Joao Pedro withdrew from Carlo Ancelotti’s team for the forthcoming international window due to injury. The Brazilian FA confirmed this on Wednesday.
Alonso was anticipated to announce Joao Pedro’s inclusion in Chelsea’s squad against Brentford during his pre-match news conference on Thursday afternoon.

However, with the Blues practising at Cobham on Friday morning, Xabi Alonso stated that Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo, and Reece James will continue to be monitored. Alonso stated this when asked about Joao Pedro’s fitness on Thursday.
“In terms of injuries and in terms of the squad we are having the last training session tomorrow so no-one is ruled out for us for Friday,” he explained.
“So I prefer to be cautious and we will wait until tomorrow to take the final decision on every player. We will see tomorrow if Joao is ready to play, it’s a possibility.”
Caicedo has not played since being pulled off injured 13 minutes into Chelsea’s season-opening 4-3 victory against Brighton last month.
“He’s (Caicedo) getting closer and tomorrow we will take the final decision on the team and on the squad that is coming to Brentford.”
Captain James, however, was not photographed at training on Tuesday. The media was only allowed to see the first 15 minutes of the session.
“For Reece, it was just a decision for Tuesday and we see his development and tomorrow we will decide.”
Marco Palestra, Jordan Henderson, and Emmanuel Emegha will all be evaluated, with Alonso eager to keep Chelsea’s matchday squad under wraps.
Last week, Alonso stated that he intended to have all three of Chelsea’s summer acquisitions ready to make their competitive debut against Brentford.
Which injury has Joao Pedro suffered?
It has not been revealed yet.
When is Chelsea’s next game?
On 19th September, 12:30 am IST against Brentford.
