Xabi Alonso has taken charge of the Blues.

Chelsea have begun their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season under new boss Xabi Alonso.

Alonso was named Liam Rosenior’s official successor in May, following a disastrous eight-month spell at Real Madrid. The Blues will be hopeful that the Spaniard can bring his Bayer Leverkusen experience to Stamford Bridge.

He guided the Germans to a double during the 2023/24 season, while also helping Leverkusen become the first Bundesliga team to go undefeated.

The Blues are flying across the world to prepare for the next season, which will pit them against some of Italy’s finest and a heated London rival. They are coming off a tumultuous season in which they finished tenth in the Premier League.

The Blues will hope that Alonso’s new ideas will help the team return to European competition and make a top-four challenge in the league.

The Blues have acquired Atlanta Defender Marco Palestra and Sporting forward Geovany Quenda for £47 million and £40 million, respectively.

Chelsea presently have five pre-season fixtures scheduled before the Premier League season begins, with games all around the world.

They begin their campaign against Western Sydney Wanderers. They will then face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Both of these games will be played in Australia.

They will then face Italian heavyweights Juventus before facing AC Milan, which is currently headed by ex-Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. It will allow Alonso to test his squad against Champions League rivals before the season begins.

Finally, the hopeful Blues’ final encounter before the Premier League begins is against Johor Darul Ta’zim.
