Chhinga Veng trounce Bethlehem Vengthlang FC in MPL
MS Dawngliana scored a brace to seal the win for his team.
Chhinga Veng FC secured their third win of the league with a 2-0 victory over last season's finalists Bethlehem Vengthlang FC this afternoon with striker MS Dawngliana bagging both goals. They led the table with 10 points from four matches.
The I-day Football champions began on the front foot early on as striker Lalrammuanpuia came close to scoring. Bethlehem Vengthlang FC responded with Rammawia forcing Chhinga Veng FC goalkeeper Zothanmawia into action. Dina Varte and B. Zoramthara also spurned half chances.
Chhinga Veng FC then made the breakthrough on the brink of halftime when Vanlallawma struck the post and MS Dawngliana swept home the rebound.
Bethlehem Vengthlang FC tried hard but in vain to break their opponents' backline in the second half and it was Chhinga Veng FC who looked more threatening.
And it was MS Dawngliana again who found the net after some brilliant work from Laldampuia and Rinchhana in the 64th minute.
Chhinga Veng FC came close to a third on several occasions as Lalrammuanpuia and Laldampuia missed good opportunities while Lalkhawpuimawia almost netted from a brilliant acrobatic volley.
Two-goals hero MS Dawngliana was named the man of the match.
