The Churchill Brothers owner voiced his concerns regarding the shock dismissal of the Spaniard.
In a truly shocking turn of events, FC Goa’s hierarchy decided to sack their head-coach Sergio Lobera recently. The Spaniard had been doing a fantastic job at the club, and had the team sitting comfortably on the top of the Indian Super League’s points tally when the news broke out.
Since that series of events, several important figures in Indian football fraternity have expressed their shock over the sacking, which was the cause of an ideological difference between the tactician and the management of the club.

Joining the scores of people who have lamented the shocking dismissal of Sergio Lobera is the former Chief Minister of Goa, Churchill Alemao. Currently an MLA from Benaulim constituency in the state of Goa, his family has an ownership of the famous Goan football club, Churchill Brothers.
Speaking on the issue Churchill Alemao expressed, “He (Lobera) is a very good coach, now there is some problem. When time will come, that time I will tell. He is a very good coach.”
Churchill Alemao spoke about the growing role of commercialization in the game by saying that, “For me it's completely different. Now it's not about not old football. Earlier it was all about this game but now it has become commercial.”

The 70-year-old further went on to hint on something very serious and noteworthy, which is the case of fixing in the matches. In that context, he added that, “I am not saying it shouldn't be commercialized but fixing and all should be not there. Football should be like (the) old one, only football.”
Upon being further enquired about the fixing side of things, he responded by saying that, “ I don’t know because I don’t have proof, so I cannot say it, but football should be played as football.”
With the football fraternity already recovering from the shocking turn of events, is there probably more than meets the eye regarding this incident? The way in which Sergio Lobera’s contract was terminated by the club raised many eyebrows, as it was a decision taken purely without keeping in mind the success on the pitch.
