Neymar, Firmino, Casemiro in Brazil squad for Copa America 2021
The hosts take on Ecuador in their opening game on June 14.
The 47th edition of Copa America 2021 will kickoff on June 14. Brazil, defending champions and hosts, announced a 24-man squad for the tournament. There were no real surprise inclusions or omissions. The squad picked itself. The only notable exclusion is that of Dani Alves, who has been sidelined with an injury.The star man in the squad is obviously Neymar. The PSG attacker is second in Brazil's all-time top goalscorers' list, behind the great Pele. He will want to lead his nation to a 10th Cop America title. In the goalkeeping department too, Brazil have two of the best custodians in the world in Alisson and Ederson.
Brazil are spoiled for choice in defence as well. Eder Militao, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Renan Lodi are among the best in the world.
The midfield has great depth as well. Fabinho will likely start at defensive midfield, with Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta ahead of him. Fred, Douglas Luiz and Everton Ribeiro will provide able backup.Roberto Firmino or Gabriel Jesus will lead the line with Neymar and Richarlison on either flank. With potent attackers like Vinicius Junior, Gabriel Barbosa and Everton on the bench, the frontline will be a nightmare for all oppositions.The host also nation have tremendous depth in the squad and can go the distance at Copa America 2021.
