The striker is keen to create more history before retiring.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s quest for 1,000 career goals has taken a tricky turn. The 41-year-old attacker left Portugal’s training camp for the September-October break after a quarrel with coach Jorge Jesus. After the feud, the striker returned to action for his club Al-Nassr and continued his scoring streak.

Cristiano Ronaldo started October with 980 senior goals for club and country. Although he left the national team camp, he joined the club’s training after the international break. It didn’t take enough time to demonstrate why he still remains the greatest goalscorer with a goal for Al-Nassr last week.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 41 and is under contract with Al-Nassr till June 2027. In August, he said this may be his final year of football. But in September, he declined to specify a retirement date.

However, one thing is certain: he is desperate to record 1,000 career goals in his playing career. He is just 20 goals shy of making history.

The former Man United striker has always been vocal about reaching that landmark and hoping to become the first-ever player to earn that milestone.

In his recent interview with CNN Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken about his target of reaching 1,000 career goals:

“I am the best of all time, period. The numbers speak for themselves.”

“People aren’t appreciating what I’m doing right now, my goals. They’re more concerned with how many goals I have left to reach 1,000. I don’t like that. I really don’t. Things have to happen naturally. Whether I score 920 goals, 925, 930…”

“I’m the greatest in history. Period. When it comes to scoring goals, the numbers speak for themselves. I’m not going to sit here and say that I have to reach 1,000 goals. If I get there, fantastic.”

How many career goals does Ronaldo have currently?

He has 980 career goals.

Does Cristiano Ronaldo want to score 1,000 career goals?

Yes, earlier the forward talked about scoring 1,000 goals. Now, he is more interested in enjoying the moment than worrying about the future.
