Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in the World Cup.

FIFA World Cup has cemented its stature as the most prestigious competition in sporting history. It has served as a platform for launching some of the biggest talents in world football.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one such player who is widely regarded as the greatest player in modern football. He is currently on track to score 1000 goals, becoming the first player to achieve the record.

Ronaldo has scored in six consecutive World Cups. With Portugal considered as one of the tournament favourites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo’s side will be aiming to win their first ever World Cup.

2006 FIFA World Cup – Germany

Goal 1: Portugal 2-0 Iran

Cristiano Ronaldo made his first-ever appearance during the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He scored his first goal for the side during the group stage fixture against Iran. In the 79th minute, Luis Figo was fouled in the penalty box, leading to a penalty kick for Portugal. Ronaldo calmly converted from the spot to win 2-0, to become the youngest goal scorer for Portugal at the World Cup at the time.

2010 FIFA World Cup – South Africa

Goal 2: Portugal 7-0 North Korea

Ronaldo scored one of his most bizarre goals for Portugal at the World Cup. During the group stage fixture against North Korea. Ronaldo was through facing a one-on-one situation with the keeper. Goalkeeper Ri Myong-guk raced out and slid in, causing Ronaldo to lose balance. The ball bounced off his neck and head, slotting the ball into the empty net to score the sixth goal for Portugal.

2014 FIFA World Cup – Brazil

Goal 3: Portugal 2-1 Ghana

Cristiano scored his only goal of the 2014 edition during Portugal’s final group stage match against Ghana. The score was tied at 1-1 in the 80th minute when João Moutinho delivered a cross into the box. Ghana’s defence failed in clearing the ball, falling straight into Ronaldo’s feet, who volleyed straight into the bottom corner, winning the game 2-1 for his side. However, his efforts were in vain, as Portugal was ultimately eliminated.

2018 FIFA World Cup – Russia

Goal 4, 5 and 6: Spain 3-3 Portugal

Regarded as Ronaldo’s greatest performance in the World Cup, Ronaldo scored a magnificent hat-trick against Spain. His first goal came from a penalty in the 4th minute, which he converted, becoming the fastest World Cup goal in Ronaldo’s career.

Ronaldo’s second goal came from a straight drive from just outside the 18-yard box in the 44th minute, becoming his first World Cup goal from outside the box. He completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute, scoring a marvellous free-kick to tie the game 3-3. With it, he became the oldest player to score a hat-trick in World Cup history at the age of 33.

Goal 7: Portugal 1-0 Morocco

His fourth goal of the tournament came during the group stage fixture against Morocco. Ronaldo scored a diving header from João Moutinho’s corner kick, outsmarting the Moroccan defence to create space for himself. It was his only headed goal in the World Cup. This goal helped him to break Ferenc Puskás’ record, becoming the highest goalscorer in European football history.

2022 FIFA World Cup – Qatar

Goal 8: Portugal 3-2 Ghana

In the 66th minute, Ronaldo was through on goal when Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu tripped him, knocking him down and winning a penalty for Portugal. He drove a powerful strike into the left side of the net, scoring with Portugal, ultimately winning 3-2. With the goal, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in five consecutive World Cups.

2026 FIFA World Cup – USA, Canada, Mexico

Goal 9: Portugal vs Uzbekistan

Ronaldo gave the Selecao das Quinas the lead in just the sixth minute after a dominant start. Joao Cancelo made a bursting run down the right before playing in a low, hard cross towards the middle. It was met with a first-time volley by the number 7 at the near post, finding the back of the net. This goal made him the second-oldest goalscorer in World Cup history.

Goal 10: Portugal vs Uzbekistan

Assisted by Bruno Fernandes, Ronaldo scored his 10th goal in World Cup history in the same match against Uzbekistan. It was a rapid counter-attack from the Selecao das Quinas, with Fernandes making a darting run forward before teeing up Ronaldo on the right. The forward slid the ball into the far bottom corner from a tight angle.

Goal 11: Portugal vs Croatia

Ronaldo’s 11th goal in the FIFA World Cup came from the penalty spot. After a VAR check, it was confirmed that Reneto Veiga was fouled by Vlasic. The 41-year-old stepped up to take the crucial penalty and netted it perfectly in the middle of the goal.
