Cristiano Ronaldo misses training ahead of Denmark vs Portugal UEFA Nations League clash

Ronaldo was an unused substitute against Norway.

Pedro Proença, head of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), travelled to Copenhagen on Tuesday, amidst tension and uncertainty involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus in the national squad.

According to Record, the basis of the concern is the national team’s head coach’s choice not to play the Portuguese captain against Norway. This is despite Jesus informing him before the game that he would play for about 30 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo warmed up throughout the game but was not called on.

The circumstance is thought to have irritated the Al Nassr striker. He rushed directly to the changing room following Portugal’s triumph in Oslo, rather than joining the other players in thanking the fans.

Another instance appeared on Tuesday, adding to the ambiguity. Cristiano Ronaldo was at the stadium as Portugal continued to prepare for their encounter against Denmark. Interestingly, he did not train with his teammates.

Shortly after, the Portuguese Football Federation addressed his absence, stating that the captain had finished an individual gym exercise at the team hotel, where the squad is staying. All because the stadium lacked the necessary equipment for the session scheduled for the number 7.

Proenca is heading to Copenhagen in light of this backdrop. The FPF president had intended to attend the Under-21 team’s match against Gibraltar in the Azores. But he modified his plans and travelled to Denmark, with Ronaldo’s condition dominating the recent national team headlines.

Jesus and Ronaldo are thought to have had the opportunity to express their different points of view, which helped to alleviate the tension surrounding the issue. Even so, there is some ambiguity about how the situation will be addressed. Additionally the influence it may have on the team selection for the following match.
