Croatia took an early 1-0 lead thanks to Ivan Perišić’s goal in the 17th minute. After trailing at halftime, Spain replied in the second half with midfielder Mikel Merino, who equalised in the 61st minute before scoring again in the 89th to give Spain the lead.
