Dani Alves: People in Paris are quite racist, friends suffered there

The Brazilian full-back played in Paris for two years six titles.

Former Paris Saint Germain defender Dani Alves has come up with a shocking outrage claiming that the people of Paris are racist.

The Brazil International was adjudged the "Player of the Tournament" in the Copa America 2019 where the Selecaos defeat Peru in the final and won the trophy at home. Dani Alves has returned to his native Sao Paulo and has joined the club after his two years stay in the French capital. 

He has represented Paris Saint Germain 48 times and netted two goals and won back to back Ligue 1 titles in that period. However the 37-year old reveals that his time at Paris was full of stress for him.

“It’s a stressful city,” he told GQ magazine. “I didn’t like it much."

“If you go to Paris for a week, it will be the trip of your life, but any longer than that and it gets tiring."

“It reminds me of a bit of Sao Paulo, but there, they are f***ing racists. A lot of them."

"I would have told them to go and f*** themselves."

“They didn’t say anything to me because I would have told them to go and f*** themselves, but I saw it towards my friends.”

Dani Alves in his illustrious career has been subject to racism time and again and one such incident happened in Spain when he was with FC Barcelona. A banana was thrown at him when Alves was preparing to take a set-piece. The Brazilian rather than getting offended picked it up and took a bite.

He later added, "We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humour. We aren't going to change things easily. If you don't give it importance, they don't achieve their objective.”

Recently in the match between England and Bulgaria, debutant Tyron Mings, Raheem Sterling and some of their teammates were subject to monkey chants from the home supporters. The match was halted for multiple times due to racist chants. The Bulgarian fans were also seen doing Nazi salutes and their actions will be under the scanner of UEFA, as they investigate the whole matter before taking any strict action.
