Declan Rice has scored one goal in the ongoing World Cup.
England took on France in the FIFA World Cup 2026 third-place playoff at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on July 18. The Three Lions started the game with a storm, with Declan Rice putting them ahead after two minutes and 14 seconds.
It came from a sloppy piece of play from Desire Doué, who gave the ball away cheaply in the French half. Rice intercepted the pass and made a darting run towards the penalty area. He curled a shot from 25 yards away, finding the bottom corner past a stranded Mike Maignan.

That strike marked Rice’s eighth international goal in 80 caps for the Three Lions. All but one of those goals has come in competitive fixtures. Interestingly, it also marked Rice’s first goal in the World Cup. It was also the second-fastest goal for England in the tournament.
The goal was a deserved one. England had made a blistering start in the fixture. Moments after Rice’s goal, Marcus Rashford had a goal-bound effort deflected behind for a corner by Malo Gusto.
Bukayo Saka then found the back of the net in the 12th minute. But the goal was disallowed due to offside. Ezri Konsa eventually doubled the Three Lions’ lead in the 19th minute with a header.

Rice gave the Three Lions the perfect start in the bronze medal fixture in the expanded 48-team World Cup in North America. The Arsenal midfielder intercepted Doué’s misplaced pass. He then ran past a couple of defenders before pulling the trigger from outside the box.
