It is that time of the year when Electronic Arts are teasing their yearly release of the new FIFA edition. After huge success with FIFA 21, the developers are coming out with FIFA 22. They have recently revealed the top 22 players with the highest overall rating points. The revelation has initiated debates amongst the fans and gaming communities. FIFA 22 will be available on all major platforms, including PlayStation5, Xbox Series X, PC and more.
The fans of the game and football fans in general eagerly anticipate the ratings reveal before the launch of the game. The developers take into account the performance of each player in the past year, while imparting overall rating points. The Ratings Collective, the team which acts as a scouting network for FIFA games, are responsible for assessing over 17,000 players. As a result, a lot of in-form players receive a huge boost in their ratings in comparison to past editions.
Having your favourite player rated higher than your rival’s player is a matter of bragging rights for the fans. The ratings reveal also help the users strategise their gameplay for the next edition. Having said that, there are a few surprises and a few usual suspects in the list of highest-rated players in the latest edition of FIFA 22.
10. Manuel Neuer – 90
Manuel Neuer is the second goalkeeper in the 90 overall rating club. The Bayern Munich custodian was rated at 90 in FIFA 21 as well and continues to maintain his rating. The custodian had a strong season with the club and also featured for Germany at the Euros last term.
9. N’Golo Kante – 90
The Frenchman had a really impressive season with Chelsea during the 2020/21 season. He was a crucial part of the side that went on to win the UEFA Champions League. There were rumours of Kante winning the Player of the Year award too. As a result of his display, Kante has earned a two-point boost, taking him from 88 to 90 overall rating.
8. Harry Kane – 90
Harry Kane is also rated at 90 and is the highest-rated English player in FIFA 22. The forward managed 23 goals and 14 assists in 35 Premier League appearances. He was the golden-boot winner and also scored four goals at the UEFA Euro 2020. Kane was 89 rated in FIFA 21 and has got a point boost.
7. Jan Oblak – 91
The Atletico Madrid custodian is the highest-rated goalkeeper in FIFA 22. He is rated 91 in the game and maintains his rating from FIFA 21. The Slovenian was instrumental in the club’s success last term where they won the La Liga. He kept 18 clean sheets in 38 appearances.
6. Neymar – 91
The Brazilian superstar is also rated 91 in FIFA 22 and maintains his rating from FIFA 21. The Brazilian had a long season last year, reaching the final of the Copa America. He also registered two goals and three assists in the competition. Furthermore, Neymar had 17 goals and 11 assists in 31 games across all competitions at the club level.
5. Kylian Mbappe – 91
The French superstar is the second player from Paris Saint-Germain to have a 91 rating. The cover star of the game had a rating of 90 in FIFA 21 and has received a one-point boost in the upcoming edition. The Frenchman scored 27 goals in the Ligue 1 last season, winning the golden boot in the process.
4. Kevin De Bruyne – 91
The Belgian is the highest-rated midfielder in FIFA 22 with a rating of 91. The Manchester City star was rated 91 in FIFA 21 as well and continues to keep his place in the 90s club. He had 10 goals and 18 assists in 40 matches at the club level. Furthermore, De Bruyne had a goal and two assists at the Euros despite recovering from a facial fracture.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo – 91
The Portuguese maestro has been demoted and finds himself out of the top two positions for the first time since 2009. The Manchester United player is rated 91 in FIFA 22, down from 92 in FIFA 21. His fans are particularly disappointed with the demotion in ratings as Ronaldo was the golden-boot winner in Serie A last season. The 36-year-old managed 29 goals and two assists in 33 games. He also ended the Euros as the joint-top scorer with five goals.
2. Robert Lewandowski – 92
The Polish marksman is the second-highest rated player in FIFA 22 at 92 overall rating points. Lewandowski has been in mind-blowing form at club level. He broke Gerd Muller’s record of scoring most goals in a single season last term in the league. Lewandowski scored 41 goals in 29 games. Overall, he had 48 goals and nine assists in 40 appearances. Furthermore, he also scored three goals at the Euros.
1. Lionel Messi – 93
The Argentine superstar is the highest-rated player in FIFA 22 with 93 overall rating points. The Argentine maintains his position at the top after a successful season last year. Messi’s transfer from FC Barcelona to PSG did not affect his rating, which is unchanged from FIFA 21. The 33-year-old scored 38 goals and made 14 assists in 47 club appearances last term. However, the biggest moment was the 2021 Copa America triumph, the first international trophy of his career. He scored four goals and assisted another five, helping Argentina to lift the trophy.
