The Three Lions will face a stern test from the defending champions in tonight’s match.
England are scheduled to face Argentina in an exciting FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 15. The Three Lions are looking to reach the World Cup final for the first time since their title win in 1966, but will need to be at their very best against La Albiceleste.
The Three Lions topped Group L after starting with two wins from three games. They beat Croatia 4-2 in their opener, followed by a goalless draw against Ghana. They finished the group stage with a 2-0 victory over Panama.
They needed two late goals from Harry Kane to overcome DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32. They had another tough clash against co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16. Down to 10 men after a red card for Jarrell Quansah, they still managed a 3-2 win, courtesy of a brace from Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham netted twice again in the quarter-final against Norway, coming from behind to seal a 2-1 win and book their place in the semi-finals for the first time in six decades.

Thoughts on the lineup
Jordan Pickford has been one of the best goalkeepers in the tournament and starts tonight between the sticks. However, head coach Thomas Tuchel had to deal with the headache of the Three Lions’ right-back situation. With Jarrell Quansah still suspended, Reece James starts at right-back, having recovered from his fitness issues.
The veteran John Stones continues to start in central defence alongside Marc Guehi, with Ezri Konsa dropped to the bench. Nico O’Reilly has been a standout in the back four for his nation, but Tuchel opts for Djed Spence at left-back. The Tottenham Hotspur player will have to be at his best to deal with the menace of Lionel Messi down the flank.
Declan Rice has fully recovered from the illness that he suffered in the game against Norway, and the Arsenal man returns to the starting lineup. He is joined by Elliot Anderson, who registered an assist in the opener against Croatia.
Jude Bellingham is his nation’s leading goalscorer in the tournament with six goals, and he starts in an advanced role. In front of him is Harry Kane, who has five goals to his name.
Anthony Gordon has been superb down the flank for the Three Lions. He has three assists in five games, two of which came in the knockout clash against DR Congo. Morgan Rogers starts on the left, having impressed off the bench in the match against Norway. Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke remain options for Tuchel later in the match.
