The English team have a decent track record in UCL in recent years
According to Sportschau, England has surpassed Germany in the competition for an extra Champions League spot next term. Two more Champions League spots are up for grabs because of the changes to the UEFA club tournaments for the upcoming season. These will be distributed according to how well each nation’s clubs do throughout Europe.
Germany was ranked second before the Last 16 ties, Italy being ranked first and England trailing Germany in third. England and Germany are tied after Bayern lost the advantage at Arsenal (drawing 2-2) and Man City drew away at Real Madrid (3-3).
Despite being tied, English clubs have outperformed their Bundesliga counterparts in past European campaigns, and as a result, the Premier League is now expected to secure the extra Champions League ticket.Since there remain five Premier League teams participating in all three European competitions, this puts England in a strong position to earn the additional berth. On the other hand, the European Bundesliga consists of just three teams: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen.
However, German team Dortmund will have a chance to go above England as in the upcoming Champions League Last 16 match on Wednesday, BVB takes on Atletico de Madrid.

A 36-team, expanded Champions League tournament will be held for the 2024–2025 season. There will be two of those spots occupied by so-called “European Performance Spots,” making it four more than there are at the moment. The organisations whose clubs in Europe this season have classified their collective performance as their coefficient—the best overall—will be allotted spots. That would mean that fifth place is also eligible for the Champions League, which is already awarded four places to the Premier League.
Gaining two coefficient points for a win, a single point for a tie, and no points for losing are awarded. Involvement at different tournament stages also earns bonus points. To calculate the coefficient average, the total is divided by the amount of clubs an organisation has playing in Europe.
