England and the DR Congo will face each other for the first time in the FIFA World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel’s England are ready to take on DR Congo in the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The clash will be played at the Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, July 1st.

The Three Lions commenced their campaign in the summer competition with a 4-2 win over Croatia. In the next game, they were held to a goalless draw by Ghana, who put up a streak of deep defending against the 1966 champions.

In the last group stage game, England played aggressively in the last 45 minutes after a tight first half to beat Panama 2-0 and secure the top spot in Group L

Meanwhile, returning to the global competition after 52 long years, the DR Congo scored their first-ever FIFA World Cup goal against Portugal, forcing the game to end in a 1-1 draw. The Leopards went down fighting in the second game of the group stage against Colombia, losing 1-0. On matchday 3, they record their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory by stunning debutants Uzbekistan.

The Leopards have qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament for the first time, and they are looking forward to making the most of it. However, it would not be easy, as they are up against title contenders, England.
