A move to the Premier League under Pep Guardiola would be beneficial for De Ligt as he suits the Spaniard's playing approach which relies on a ball-playing defender, which is the young centre-back's primary ammunition. On the other hand, a move to Catalonia could also be beneficial for De Jong, but he could find chances to hard by. The midfielder is a good technical midfielder, but the presence of Ivan Rakitic and others could hinder his first-team chances.

According to many pundits, it would be beneficial to both the players if they spend one more season with Ajax, as they are in the main foray of the Dutch squad for the upcoming Euros, and a move away could prove to be an issue, as first-team chances could be reduced in their new outfit.
